The wood base is redwood recycled from the UC Davis Wyatt deck renovation project. The tight grain wood is typical of old growth redwood and is hard to find and exceptional. Linda Bird was a collaborator on this outdoor/indoor sculpture and carefully fitted the 'waterfall' glass into slots in the redwood support.
