A Desert Story

This unusual copper and silver tcherot comes from the desert of Morocco. Bedouin use all the materials they have on hand. A tcherot usually houses a prayer or words from the Koran. The Bedouin of Morocco (also called Berbers and Amazigh) were very clever in this piece, using a metal road sign for the back. Brass, silver metal bicones, black stone and palm nut heishi are all strung on leather, the traditional material of the berbers. Frame included.
